Captivating Read

What story has shades and flavors of:
The Mysteries of Udolpho by Ann Radcliffe
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare
Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
Jamaica Inn by Daphne DuMaurier
Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte
Mansfield Park by Jane Austen
Wives and Daughters by Elizabeth Gaskell
Agnes Grey by Anne Bronte
and
Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackeray
and
yet
is a beautifully executed, layered, stand alone adventure?

What story has a hard to like heroine, stunning imagery, delightfully deviant and cruel villians, ghosts on the moors, secret passageways, temptations of Faust, and songless birds?

I liked Julianne Donaldson's first book, Edenbrooke, well enough.  It was a good read.  Delightful, fun, and interesting.  It's a keeper.

In comparison, Blackmoore is a haunting, heartbreaking, and striking page-turner.

Probably one of my favorite books I've ever read.  Definitely one of the top 25 books I would save if there were a fire (Heaven knows I can't narrow it down to just 10 top books).

If you like the above books, I would highly recommend Blackmoore.  What a way to spend the day.
