Baby Loves Food!

This picture was taken in about a two second gap in between bites for this kid.  He loves food and lets you know that you are failing miserably if you don't get food in his mouth immediately and often.

Four is Older!

When some of his friends were over playing, I let Four open a few of his gifts on his actual birthday.

This was from my sister.  I think this is one of the best gifts for this kind of kid.

The boys used scratch paper to make some creative art.

Then Four played with his circuit kit for hours.  Days.

You learn how electric circuitry works by creating different set-ups.

This is N.D.  A friend at school made it for Four for his birthday.  It is a large paper bird with expanding wings and everything.

On the weekend we celebrated Four's birthday with dinner out where he wanted (Stonefire Grill), opening the rest of his gifts and cards, and blowing out candles on his birthday rice krispie treats (he's never been a cake kid).

Five played with the bop gloves.

And Four played with his circuits even more.

Here he is playing a space invaders theme.

Happy birthday, kid!  We love you!

But...cute picture nonetheless.

Awake!

The other day I had to wake up early to take Three to a Scout thing.

I woke up before my alarm at 5:45 am, waltzed into Three's room, and woke him up with a smile.

He looked genuinely concerned.  "Who are you?" he asked.

Touche.

However, I am pretty sure that one of the first things I told him about myself when we met a few years ago, was that I am not a morning person.  If you want a yes to anything, wait until after ten a.m. to ask.  At least you'll have a sporting chance.

Which is good advice.

Except on the freak, one-off days when I wake up as cheerful as Cinderella, thereby thoroughly confusing my child.

Back in the Good Ol' Days

Five, who is seven, was overheard yesterday talking about how he really liked a certain kind of cracker back when he was young.

I nearly spit out my water.

If Five isn't young anymore, what does that make me?!

Eating

Baby is a great eater!

He loves to try new things and he will eat his veggies.

On the Move

At Baby's last checkup the doctor was pleased with his crawling.

He asked if Baby was pulling himself up on anything yet.

Nope.  Not yet, I confidently replied.

Well, it will happen soon, Doctor said.

We went home and after Baby's nap, I went into his room to get him.  He was casually standing up, leaning against the bars of his crib, as if to say, "Look what I can do."

Well, that was fast!

And thus began the saga of a crawler who is desperately trying to become a climber.

He likes to crawl up on the fireplace or crawl up on the boxes I put out for him.  He can't get down on his own yet, but boy, does he try.

Onward and upward.

Classic Baby

You may have noticed a time or two that I really like classic baby outfits.

This last Sunday was no exception.

Baby dressed as a little sailor for church.
And he was oh, so cute!

I took of the jacket so you could see the cute overalls underneath.

I love it when this kid giggles.  His whole face gets into it.

And yes.  He is wearing shoes that I made for him.

And here is Baby, about to attack me with a big slobbery kiss.

I love this little guy...

Sealing

In our religion, we feel that family relationships are very important.

To that end, as the adoption was finalized and Baby legally and lawfully became recognized as our child, we were able to seal Baby to us in the temple, which is a way to recognize the adoption spiritually.  Here is a link that explains it a little.

We were blessed to have some of our very favorite people with us in the temple that day.

We didn't get pictures of everyone.  I was a bit disorganized about the whole thing.  But, we were grateful to feel the love of so many.

And baby's Birth Family was foremost in my mind all day.  They have truly given us a gift and we are very grateful for the opportunity to have Baby in our family.

Our new Forever Family

And yes, we will eventually be replacing the picture at the top of this blog.  Just as soon as we can get all the family members to look at the same camera for one good picture.  Details...details.

Meeting Aa - Newly Arrived

Aa is a few days old.  We went to see him and the boys got to hold him.  Baby the Beautiful looked like he could eat Aa for breakfast.  Made me realize how big Baby the Beautiful has gotten in the last nine months.

All of Baby's baby clothes went to Aa and it is really fun for me to see the clothes in use again.  Some of these Four wore as a baby.  My, how time flies...
