Pearl Harbor

The boys weren't really sure about this adventure.

They had to get up really, really early and go stand in line somewhere to see a memorial.

My boys are not the most demure, well-behaved children in the world.  However, once the movie depicting the history of the site started playing, a reverence came over them and the boys started to understand why the memorial is so important.

After the video history lesson, we got on a boat and were motored out to the memorial site that was built right on top of one of the downed ships.

This rusty circle is the top of the USS Arizona.

This was a list of all the servicemen killed during that attack.

We were surprised at the amount of oil around the site.  Pearl Harbor was more seventy years ago and it appears as if there is still oil leaking from the sunken ship.

The boys actually went and sat quietly in this room by themselves.  They seemed to understand the gravity of what happened.

I know this shot was overexposed but I liked the effect.

Baby's hair is getting so long at the back that he is starting to look a little nutty after a nap.  His first haircut will have to come son.
